The new soccer fields in Phase I are now being utilized for play. The new facilities will allow the Friendswood Soccer Club and the City of Friendswood to expand local, state and national tournaments, along with the expansion of current programming.
Old City Park Located on Briarmeadow near Winding Way, facilities include picnic tables, barbeque pits, playground equipment, and nature trails. A large riding arena with bleachers, concession stand and announcers’ booth host local horse shows and riding events. Approximately six acres of park land allows for parking of trucks, trailers and cars. Leavesley Park Located at 901 Buckingham in Regency Estates, this facility is available for small and large social events, private parties, and many other activities. Renwick Sports Complex Located at 205 Stadium Drive, behind Westwood Elementary School, this facility contains 19 acres of baseball, softball and soccer fields which are used for various youth and adult sports leagues. The district covers 15 square miles and borders the Alvin, Pearland and Clear Creek school districts. Fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency, the district's curriculum emphasizes basic academic skills, higher academic thinking skills, and cooperative learning strategies. The district is dedicated to meeting the needs of students of all levels of ability. FISD seeks to continuously improve through intensive staff development programs and has received waivers from the state to replace several instructional days with staff development days. Technology is an integral part of the curriculum on all campuses. Each campus has at least one self-contained computer laboratory. Two men of the Quaker faith, Frank Jacob Brown and Thomas Hadley Lewis, came to the area in the spring of 1895. They were impressed with the area and quickly arranged to purchase a trust deed for the property. The deed was recorded on 15 July 1895 and the colony named Friendswood.
